Daddy and the Bear

Every morning in Mummy and Daddy’s bed
Daddy’s gone, and there’s a bear instead
A great, big, angry, grizzly bear!
Where did he come from?
How did he get there?

Under the covers he grizzles and growls
If you make a noise then that grizzly bear howls
And if you get too close he’ll pounce out of the bed
If you’re not careful, he’ll bite off your head!

Then Mummy makes coffee all steaming and hot
And leaves it by the bed in a big coffee pot
Sooner or later Daddy comes down the stairs
With a big happy smile and a cheery air

I went up and checked and the bear’s disappeared
Where does he go to when my Daddy is here?
I poked him this morning, so I know he’s not dead
Maybe he’s hiding under the bed?

Mom's Taxi

When I grew up
I wanted to be
A fireman
A fighter pilot
And a mom

Now I’m grown up
I put out imaginary fires
I fight the morning traffic
And I’m a mom

The moral of the story is
Be careful what you wish for
You might just get it
With bells on

Sleep

Sleep transforms
demons into angels
perpetual motion
into a dead slumber

Sleep transforms
a 3-foot child
into a 6-foot monster
with octopus arms

Spring

The blossoms are out
Spring is here
My sinuses are clogged
I’m sneezing everywhere

The frogs are croaking
In the pond
I can’t sleep through
Their mating song

My feet are itching
To be away
My welcome here
Long overstayed

Rat Racing

Sick of rat racing
Money chasing
Gridlock
Tick tock
Clock watching

Call me a cubicle hater
Speak to me later
Talk shop
Bribe a cop
Corporate alligator

A change of pace
A different race
Slow down
Dressing down
A wider space

Smell the flowers
Take an hour
Sunlight
Sleep tight
Balance of power
